Barbara Freund

Barbara worked as an Operations Manager and Vice President at Swiss Re, one of the world’s largest reinsurers.  She had been with Swiss Re (formerly GE Insurance Solutions) for over 22 years and has led teams between 8 and 50 people.  Until 2016, her team included members in Latin America –Mexico and Brazil – and clients are throughout Central and South America.

Bill Freund, Barbara’s husband, is a middle school teacher at St Therese school in Parkville, MO and is a strong advocate for education and children.  Barbara and Bill both have a BA from Park University.

She currently serves as Secretary on the Boards of Friends United and Central Avenue Center of Hope.

Community service, children and education have always been an important area for Barbara.  She has served and continues to serve as a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, Carpenter’s Kids leader amongst other activities at Highlands Community of Christ (and prior congregations) since she was a teen.  She has been actively involved in multiple charitable organizations through her company such as Restart, Harvesters, Youth Friends, Red Cross, and many others.

Barbara participated in a Mission Trip to Honduras in 2010 with a group from the Highlands.  The group painted a school, delivered books and school supplies, among other things.
