Bessy Morales

Bessy Morales is a retired teacher and school librarian with 33 years working in Elementary Education in her country of Honduras. She has received training in Israel, at the Pedagogical National University of Francisco Morazan in Honduras, and has participated in numerous literacy training opportunities as trainer of prekindergarten and primary teachers through the Los Fresnos, Texas, school district as well as the Independence, Missouri school district. She has received numerous hours of training in reading/writing instruction and teaching strategies to use with prekindergarten-primary students. She has served as President/Director of Friends United in Honduras for more than 35 years.

In recent years, she has been an active Rotarian with her club, San Miguel de Heredia, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. She has held the positions of Director of Administration and of Membership, as well as serving as the first woman club president in 2024-25. She has most recently served as Assistant Governor to the Rotary District 4250 Governor in Honduras. Bessy has also been a frequent speaker at clubs in both Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. She has represented her club at several District 4250 conferences, as well as International Rotary Conventions.

Because of her work for Amigos Unidos/Friends United in advancing improvements in education for her country, Bessy has received several awards. She was awarded the Service Above Self award in 2018 from The Rotary Club of Independence, Paul Harris award presented by The Rotary Club of Independence in 2019, and Rotarian of the Year for 2021-2022 from her club San Miguel de Heredia.
